7th Grade Math Club
The Math club is based on the essentials of 7th grade mathematics. This is an ongoing intensive math club for standards aligned learning. Note: because there is no end date, the topics will recycle back to the beginning.
What's included
1 live meeting
1 in-class hours per weekHomework
1 hour per week. Students will not have home learning, but rather will receive Mathematics HL help during math club. If parents desire home learning activities, follow up assignments may be given by the teacher.Assessment
Student learning is measured through formative assessments through an interactive educational technology called "Kahoot!"Class Experience
US Grade 7
The ongoing club dates will take place once a week. The topics are not connected to each other, so students may come in and join at any time during the year, or skip a week. This is a review of common standardized math topics, as well as remediation, extra practice, and home learning help. This is not a live class. Students may come in with any math home learning topic and receive assistance on whatever math topic he/she needs. There is also a time for home learning help or guided practice where students can work on Mathematics activities with teacher guidance. Club Sessions are broken up into three segments: 1-Students will enter the classroom and be given a brief warm-up activity containing math drills that build mathematical fluency and confidence. This lasts about 5-10 minutes depending on the learner. 2-Then, students will participate in a brief whole group instruction to review the math concept for the day. This supplements their traditional math class or course curriculum. This takes about 15-20 minutes. 3-The last half of the class is devoted to guided practice and independent activities so that students can receive homework help or practice what they have just reviewed. This takes about 20-25 minutes
Learning Goals

Parental Guidance
Students will be asked to make an account with Study.com and use their/their parent's email address. This will never be sold to third parties or shared with anybody else except for the teacher. They will make a free account with me using this link https://study.com/join/classroom.html?code=slate-spider-6191. In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Teacher expertise and credentials
Florida Teaching Certificate in Special Education
I have taught middle school mathematics in the public school system for about 4 years. I am certified to teach in the state of Florida. I have taught 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade mathematics to special education students on a general education curriculum and following the standard pacing guide and mathematics to middle school students with severe cognitive disabilities in a self-contained classroom and other special education settings. In addition, Google slides, Google Forms, Youtube, IXL, Khan Academy, and Kahoot will all be used for in-classroom learning, content review, and participation during the class sessions. These educational technologies are not going to be assigned outside of class.
