Plane Geometry
 Week 1
Lesson 1
Classify angles, lines, & polygons
Identify types of lines and angles. Classify two-dimensional figures in a hierarchy based on properties.
Lesson 2
Classify angles, lines, & polygons
Identify types of lines and angles. Classify two-dimensional figures in a hierarchy based on properties.
 Week 2
Lesson 3
Area & perimeter of polygons
Identify and calculate the area and perimeter of figures and use them to solve real-world and mathematical problems.
Lesson 4
Area & perimeter of compound shapes
Identify and calculate the area and perimeter of figures and use them to solve real-world and mathematical problems.
 Week 3
Lesson 5
Measure angles
Solve real-world problems using angle measurements. Use facts about supplementary, complementary, vertical, and adjacent angles in a multi-step problem to write and solve simple equations for an unknown angle in a figure.
Lesson 6
Circles
Identify parts of the circle. Calculate the area and circumference of circles and use them to solve real-world and mathematical problems.
 Week 4
Lesson 7
Similar figures
Solve problems involving scale drawings of geometric figures, including computing actual lengths and areas from a scale drawing and reproducing a scale drawing at a different scale.
Lesson 8
Triangle inequality theorem
Prove whether three lines could make a triangle using the triangle inequality theorem. Focus on constructing triangles from three measures of angles or sides, noticing when the conditions determine a unique triangle, more than one triangle, or no triangle.
 Week 5
Lesson 9
Polygons on the coordinate plane
Answer questions about polygons based on ordered pairs on the coordinate plane.
Lesson 10
Transformations
Identify and use the four transformations on the coordinate plane.
Unit 2Solid Geometry

Solid Geometry
 Week 6
Lesson 11
Classify solids
Classify solids and identify features of them.
Lesson 12
Identify nets & cross-sections
Identify nets by what solid they would make. Describe the two-dimensional figures that result from slicing three-dimensional figures, as in plane sections of right rectangular prisms and right rectangular pyramids.
 Week 7
Lesson 13
Volume
Solve real-world and mathematical problems involving area, volume of two- and three-dimensional objects composed of triangles, quadrilaterals, polygons, cubes, and right prisms.
Lesson 14
Volume
Solve real-world and mathematical problems involving area, volume of two- and three-dimensional objects composed of triangles, quadrilaterals, polygons, cubes, and right prisms.
 Week 8
Lesson 15
Surface area
Solve real-world and mathematical problems involving area, surface area of two- and three-dimensional objects composed of triangles, quadrilaterals, polygons, cubes, and right prisms.
Lesson 16
Surface area
Solve real-world and mathematical problems involving area, surface area of two- and three-dimensional objects composed of triangles, quadrilaterals, polygons, cubes, and right prisms.
Students will solve problems involving scale drawings of geometric figures. Students will use formulas to solve real-world problems. Students will describe 2-D figures that result from slicing 3-D figures. Students will find volume and surface area with given formulas.
Homework Offered
I will provide 5-10 example problems for homework after each class. This is voluntary and will be reviewed at the beginning of the next class. If a student is struggling, they can post their concerns on the classroom wall for more clarification. Homework should not take more than 15 minutes per assignment.
Assessments Offered
I will assess students in class based on their participation and homework (if they do their homework). Students will also have occasional quizzes. I will also provide a feedback report on each student at the end of the course. Please let me know if you would like a letter grade for this class.
Grades Offered
Students should have a math journal to keep their notes in and solve example problems. No textbooks or workbooks are required.
