Hello Parents! 👋 Interested in giving your students a bit of a challenge while also helping them learn important reading and critical thinking skills? WHAT IS THE COURSE? This is a Self-Paced Immersive Reading Comprehension Course that takes a bit of a different approach to reading! Instead of starting from the beginning of the book and having all the key parts of the story explained to them (The characters, setting plot, etc.) we are going to start from somewhere in the middle and by using clues from the text, a bit of critical thinking and 4 crucial reading techniques the students will try putting the missing pieces together! WHAT ARE THE 4 CRUCIAL READING TECHNIQUES? 1️⃣ Learning how to make Inferences. 2️⃣ Identifying different types of foreshadow 3️⃣ Using the SAT method to Analyze Characters 4️⃣ Discerning the 6 types of Author's Purpose WHY THIS COURSE? After teaching this course as a live group class, I quickly realized how many students and parents were interested in the course.. So much so that I was getting multiple requests to open more sections. However since my 1-On-1 classes were rather busy I decided to take the original immersive reading camp and transform it into a self paced course that students would be able to complete at their own pace... while also making some rather BIG updates to the class content and material! ✅ WHAT'S INCLUDED? 🎥 Instructional Videos: 4 engaging and interactive instructional videos (Between 5-10 Minutes each) The videos give clear instructions and explanations of the reading strategies. 💻 Interactive Online Assessments: 4 online activities that are strategically placed throughout the course to help students assess, retain and reinforce what they have learned in class. 📖 Full Access to Online Book: Students will get full access to the chapter book "Boys of the Island" which was specifically edited by the teacher for the lessons. 📝 Printable Worksheets: 8 Worksheets that were specially designed by the teacher to help students practice the techniques and to reinforce reading comprehension skills! HOW IS THIS COURSE UNIQUE? There are 3 main things that make this course unique! 👍 1- The Method Most people read books from front to back, but sometimes that doesn't actually engage or challenge the student's critical thinking skills of teaching the typical 2- The content Instead of teaching the normal 3 types of author's purpose we learn 6 types. I do this to help students stay safe while reading and identify when an author is being manipulative. 3- The Outcome After finishing this course in my live lessons I have found that a large majority of the students become very invested in the book and are even eager to read the whole thing (which they should have full access to the book). WHAT CAN YOUR CHILD ACHIEVE? 📈 Improved Reading Comprehension 📘 Build Reading Confidence 🤔 Develop Strong Critical Thinking Skills WILL THERE BE LIVE MEETINGS? Since this is a "Self-Paced" course, there are no live meetings. However, along with the instructional videos, online assessments and printable worksheets, you will also be able to reach out for any further guidance, questions or assistance. 📚 Thank you all so much! And Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns! 👋
