Use place value understanding to read and write whole numbers in three forms: standard, expanded, and word.
Lesson 2
Calculate whole numbers
Fluently add, subtract, multiply, and divide multi-digit numbers using the standard algorithm.
 Week 2
Lesson 3
Factors
Find the greatest common factor of two whole numbers less than or equal to 100 and the least common multiple of two whole numbers less than or equal to 12.
Lesson 4
Multiples
Find the least common multiple of two whole numbers and use them to solve real-world problems.
Unit 2Fractions & Decimals

Fractions & Decimals
 Week 3
Lesson 5
Simplify fractions & decimals
Reduce fractions and decimals to their simplest forms and recognize equivalent fractions and decimals.
Lesson 6
Convert and compare fractions & decimals
Understand a rational number as a point on the number line.
 Week 4
Lesson 7
Add & subtract fractions
Fluently add and subtract fractions using the standard algorithm.
Lesson 8
Add & subtract mixed numbers
Fluently add and subtract mixed numbers using the standard algorithm.
 Week 5
Lesson 9
Multiply fractions, mixed numbers, and whole numbers
Fluently multiply fractions and mixed numbers using the standard algorithm.
Lesson 10
Divide fractions, mixed numbers, and whole numbers
Interpret and compute quotients of fractions, and solve word problems involving the division of fractions by fractions
 Week 6
Lesson 11
Add & subtract decimals
Fluently add and subtract multi-digit decimals using the standard algorithm for each operation.
Lesson 12
Multiply & divide decimals
Fluently multiply and divide multi-digit decimals using the standard algorithm for each operation.
 Week 7
Lesson 13
Fraction review
Review calculating, reducing, converting, comparing, and ordering fractions.
Lesson 14
Decimal review
Review calculating, reducing, converting, comparing, and ordering decimals.
Unit 3Integers

Integers
 Week 8
Lesson 15
Positive and negative integers & absolute value
Understand that positive and negative numbers are used together to describe quantities having opposite directions or values. Use positive and negative numbers to represent quantities in real-world contexts, explaining the meaning of 0 in each situation.
Lesson 16
Add and compare integers & absolute value
Understand ordering and absolute value of rational numbers. Add integers and use them to solve real-world problems.
Students will apply and extend previous understandings of multiplication and division to divide fractions by fractions. Students will compute fluently with multi-digit numbers and find common factors and multiples. Students will apply and extend previous understandings of numbers to the system of rational numbers.
Homework Offered
I will provide 5-10 example problems for homework after each class. This is voluntary and will be reviewed at the beginning of the next class. If a student is struggling, they can post their concerns on the classroom wall for more clarification. Homework should not take more than 15 minutes per assignment.
Assessments Offered
I will assess students in class based on their participation and homework (if they do their homework). Students will also have occasional quizzes. I can also provide a progress report at the end of the course. Please let me know if you would like a letter grade for this class.
Grades Offered
Students need to have taken 5th grade math or have been tested on a 6th grade level.
Students should have a math journal to keep their notes in and solve example problems. A printer would be beneficial for notes, but is not required.
