This is a Self-Paced Reading Comprehension and Critical Thinking Course that Primarily focuses on teaching students how to make Inferences (Educated Guesses) by using the Clues from the text and their own knowledge. ✅ HOW WILL THIS BE TAUGHT? Making inferences can sometimes be a bit challenging for students as it requires them to use their critical thinking skills as they make multiple connections within a text. Which can include some complex tasks such as using clues to determine an unknown setting, a character's emotions, the author's motives or even identifying misinformation/manipulation. WHAT'S INCLUDED? 🎥 5 Instructional Videos: This course comes with 5 Instructional Videos that focus on different aspects of making Inferences. Each Video is roughly 10-17 Minutes Long. 📝 Printable Worksheets: 7 Worksheets that were specially designed by the teacher to help students practice their inferencing skills and focus on the topic of the lesson! ✏️ Final Assessment: 1 Private Genially link will be sent at the end of the course to help test the student's retention of the course material. 💻 Personalized Teacher Feedback: After Purchasing the self-paced course, you will have 5 weeks of access to personalized teacher feedback. When teaching Inferences it's very important to break the concepts down into manageable "Bite size" pieces, while also not making the students feel like their 2 years old again. In my classes I aim to make the concepts easy to grasp while also retaining a bit of challenge for the students. This has been done by essentially taking a larger concept "Inferences" and turning it into a 5 week learning process that helps the students not only learn the information but retain it and apply it. I have first tested this course by implementing it into my live classes and have seen student's make huge leaps in their critical thinking and reading comprehension skills! Parental Guidance
-We will be using genially for the final assessment. It is an online interactive presentation that will be sent through an exclusive link. All the student will need to do is put in their first name and answer the assessment questions. :)
-Some of the assignments will contain misinformation or deception from the author. I will clearly tell the students in the video when an article is being misleading and their job is to identify how.

Hello everyone!
I am very thankful to be teaching here on outschool. I have been working with children now for nearly 7 years and have been able to teach over 3000 online classes. I have a wide variety of experience from working with charter schools, local government recreation positions, public school programs and multiple online teaching platforms. Over the years I’ve had multiple educator roles such as Online Teaching, Homeschooling, Reading Tutor, Soccer Coach, Bible teacher, Sunday School, Fitness Educator, Camp Counselor and an ESL Teacher. During that time I have been able to teach a variety of different topics including English, Reading, Math, Finance, Fitness, Health, Technology and more.
I received my Bachelors degree from the University of North Florida while studying Health Science/Fitness. I was also in charge of putting together a health awareness program for struggling students while working with a charter school.
Afterwards I began working with multiple different curriculums and have specialized in working with struggling readers and began creating custom reading evaluations and courses that are tailored to help students improve in all areas of reading including speed, accuracy, pronunciation and comprehension.
You may also see that I offer typing courses which were designed to help students learn the foundational skills of typing on a computer by building and utilizing proper finger positioning, muscle memory and visual/kinesthetic accuracy while also incorporating challenging and engaging typing games/lessons.
I really do enjoy teaching many different topics and learning more everyday as I believe there is an infinite amount of wisdom to learn so we should never stop learning.
My goal as a teacher is to Equip, Encourage and Challenge each of my students to not just learn the information but rather to learn it and use it wisely in their lives.
