This 7-week course will take fifth grade students through the first quarter of common core mathematics standards using the Singapore Math Curriculum. Workbook and materials are included in the class price!

Description
Class Experience
Students will deepen their understanding of place value. Students will be able to solve expressions using order of operations. Students will be able to multiply and divide multi digit whole numbers. Students will be able to add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators. Students will improve their word problem solving skills. Students will learn personal responsibility by coming to class prepared each day. Students will learn to raise their hand and take turns speaking. Students will learn to participate in collaborative conversations with diverse partners.
Our teachers for this class have experience in brick and mortar k-12 settings as well as online elementary education.
The last ten minutes of each class will be independent work time where students will begin their homework under the teacher's supervision. If they are not able to finish in class, they should have no more than 15 minutes of additional work time out of class.
Most materials will be included in the price of the course. Students will additionally need to print out tests at the end of each chapter to be completed in class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will be assessed informally on an ongoing basis. At the end of each chapter, a formal test will be given to monitor student progress. A formal letter grade can be provided upon request at the beginning of the course.
3 hours 20 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
We will utilize Singapore Math 5A curriculum.
