In this 5x a week Supplementary Pod, we will meet each day working on English and Math Standards for fifth grade. We will cover all the standards by the end of the year. We incorporate fun projects and RPG games & Interactive Notebooks *Math- We use interactive notebooks that are a great thing to use as a portfolio and is an easy way to see their progress along with building effective notetaking skills (We will cover and teach mastery of 5th Grade standards) Operations and Algebraic Thinking Write and interpret numerical expressions. Analyze patterns and relationships. Number and Operations in Base Ten Understand the place value system. Perform operations with multi-digit whole numbers and with decimals to hundredths. Number and Operations—Fractions Use equivalent fractions as a strategy to add and subtract fractions. Apply and extend previous understandings of multiplication and division to multiply and divide fractions. Measurement and Data Convert like measurement units within a given measurement system. Represent and interpret data. Geometric measurement: understand concepts of volume and relate volume to multiplication and to addition. *Language Arts- We will cover the 5th grade ELA standards through fun activities like Character Analysis of comic book superheroes and villains through classical literature. Dungeons and dragons role play with writing tasks being required to level up their characters and get equipment. This could be a standard DND adventure, traveling the Pokemon world as a trainer and more. (We try to build adventures based on the kid's interests) Fan fiction writing and more

Supply List
The printouts for the week and interactive notebooks will be uploaded each Friday to allow you the weekend to get them printed for the next week. Students will need scissors, a glue stick, pencil, and something to color with. If you have a 20 sided die that will be fun for the RPG days, but not necessary and we can do an online roll. When we do comprehension checks with apps like Kahoot, a second device like phone are table are helpful to be able to see the meeting still full screen.
