Calling all 5th and 6th graders in need of a refresh! In this course learners will review 5th and 6th grade math topics pertaining to math common core standards. This course is part 1 of a series. We will meet once a week to reinforce core topics commonly found on standardized tests and that are necessary to succeed in the following grade level. Classes will be interactive via a digital whiteboard and learners will have a chance to participate in educational games and discuss math strategies. This is a great opportunity to reinforce topics that students need to strengthen their mathematical foundation. Class Schedule is as Follows: Week 1 -Place Value of decimal and whole numbers Week 2 -Multiply multi-digit whole numbers and multiply with exponents Week 3 -Multiply decimals by decimals and whole numbers Week 4 - Divide decimals by decimals and whole numbers

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have worked as an educator for the last 15 years. I have a BA degree in Psychology and a MA in Education. I have taught all academic subjects from 1st grade thru 6th grade in a public school setting. I have also taught thru an after school program dedicated to helping students with their homework instruction as well as reinforcing prior academic lessons. My love for math is something I bring to my classes and hope to inspire my students to enjoy math and feel confident when problem solving and using their math skills. I believe it is important to develop a safe space for students to create, participate and enjoy their own instruction. At this point in my career, I can still say that I love what I do and hope to do it for many more years. My degree in psychology and ongoing professional development has shown me the importance of social emotional learning and I hope to incorporate those strategies into helping my students connect and develop relationships.
