Class Experience

Each week we will learn about a new work of art and the artist who created it. Where its found, its impact on history and fun facts that get conversations flowing and prepare us for our time on the Jeopardy stage. Students love sharing knowledge and this is my most popular in person class now open as flex to reach more students. Students will be encouraged to practice describing, looking, and active viewing with peers while learning about a work of art from history.

Our class will help students think about actively looking. What do you see? Pretend I can't see it? Can you paint me a word picture? How does it make you feel? Thinking about art on an individual level. Then they will learn about the art works impact on history and art such as events that may have made it more or less popular. When works of art were damaged or stollen? People who loved it and people who hated it?

No two weeks will be the same. We will cover well-known art and lesser-known artists. We will explore different cultures, countries, and mediums. From Ancient to Modern. I'm always taking requestions but please check out the planned list of artworks. A new work will be released every Sunday for students to learn about when it fits their schedule.

This class uses videos recorded by the teacher and podcast style recordings done by the instructor to help students learn in different ways about each work of art. Some weeks may include coloring pages, and worksheets to help students engage with art a different way and think about artist, the culture, or style. Every week will have a discussion prompt to allow students to brainstorm and interact with each other should they choose to engage (though its not expected. Students will be able to hone their knowledge and learning using materials like worksheets, sharing coloring pages, completing mini quizzes and matching games designed by the teacher.

Please review the list of selected works so you are aware of what your student will learn about.
If you would like to request a specific artist, work of art, or culture/style please reach out.
