Class Experience

Learners are going to work together to encourage and support one another in goal setting, organizing, planning, cleaning, and creating healthy habits for now and the future while having fun interacting and participating in challenges each week.
As a band director for ten years, teaching in the public school setting as well as teaching individual private lessons, I have gained a varied skill set and a love of all things music and band, especially middle school-age students. I graduated in 2000 from the University of North Texas and have had many years of professional development and practice as both an assistant band director and head band director in the public school setting. I had the opportunity to work with many middle schoolers in an advisory/home-room class situation and enjoy encouraging discussion and spurring middle schoolers into action and building habits. I have since left teaching to pursue teaching as a homeschool educator of my own children. As a YouTube content creator, I have learned how to create and edit videos and create videos based on a variety of classes.
Learners will accomplish all tasks during class; however, they are encouraged to finish any unfinished challenges as well as extending the challenges as they desire.
Learners will need to have a journal and writing utensil for each class. Learners will have many challenges throughout the class and will need to be on a device that can move to a variety of settings based on the area of organization we will be working on.
Assessment will be informal through discussion and through the challenges. Self-assessment will be a huge part of building habits.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
