In this course, students will learn the 50 states of the United States and their state capitals in a summer camp format meeting one hour weekly for eight weeks. We will also briefly cover the status of Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia. The class is structured as follows:  Week 1:  Washington, Oregon, Idaho, California, Nevada, Utah and Arizona-students will learn the state location and capital of each with at least one fun fact! Week 2: Montana, North Dakota, Wyoming, South Dakota, Colorado, Nebraska and New Mexico-students will learn the state location and capital of each with at leas one fun fact! Week 3:  Minnesota, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Texas-students will learn the state location and capital of each with at least one fun fact! Week 4:  Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee and Louisiana-students will learn the state location and capital of each with at least one fun fact!  Week 5:  Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, S. Carolina and N. Carolina-students will learn the location of each state, the capital and at least one fun fact! Week 6:  Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, New York, Rhode Island, Connecticut and New Jersey-students will learn the location of each state, capital and at least 1 fun fact.  Week 7:  Pennsylvania, Ohio, W. Virginia, Virginia, Delaware and Maryland-students will learn the location of each with state capital and at least one fun fact. Week 8:  Review with games to assist in students' retention of material; review Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia. My teaching style is fun and interactive. I will use a slide presentation, props and games to teach. I enjoy interacting with the students as well as the students interacting with one another. There is no prior knowledge of the states and capitals needed.
