What Do Students Learn?

To begin, students will learn about the writing process. Writing actually involves a lot of thinking. It is difficult to write something that is easy to read. We will go over this process together. Students will practice using the writing process throughout this course.

Students will focus on the basics of paragraph structure for paragraphs throughout the course. We will learn about the structure, how to plan, draft, and edit/revise body paragraphs, introductions, and conclusions for a 5-paragraph essay.

To get the most out of the class, complete the optional 5-paragraph essay assignment after the class concludes. Submit it to me to get feedback. Allow me up to a 1 week to provide feedback. Reach out if there is a delay or have any questions about the feedback you get.

The objective is for students to learn:
- the steps of the writing process
- understand and can explain the structure of a basic paragraph
- understand and can explain the structure of introductions and conclusions
- how to revise and edit their own writing
