In this series of live, one-time classes, we will explore 5 different types of dance - Ballet, Modern, Hip Hop, Jazz, and Tap. We will begin on day one by reading "Jocelyn Learns to Dance" by Jocelyn E. Cox. The story will take us on a little journey about a girl who is looking for an extracuricular activity like her friends participate in. She tries 5 different styles of dance and loves all of them! After reading the story on day one, we will focus on a new style each class. We will discuss the parts of that style and what makes each one unique. Each day will include a special coloring page or activity following our class. These activities are optional for the learners. Our daily schedule is as follows: Day one: read the book "Jocelyn Learns to Dance", review the different aspects of Ballet, and learn a short dance to a simple Ballet song. Day two: Learn about Modern Dance and do a short routine with some of the moves and techniques we learn. Day three: Learn about Jazz Dance and do a fun upbeat routine combining some of the moves we learn. Day four: Learn about Tap *shoes not required* and put together a short combination using what we have learned about Tap. Day five: Learn about Hip Hop and learn a fun routine using some simple Hip Hop moves. During our 5 classes together, just like Jocelyn, we will give those same styles of dance a try!

I teach Movement classes in studio and online as well! I have been teaching dance for 15+ years to all ages (18months - adult) as well as Fitness classes to kids and adults. Dance has been a major part of my life for 32 years and I love bringing that passion to others. I've worked with young and old, special needs, low-impact or injured, wheel-chair bound, and all others!
I believe that Dance/Movement is a rare "sport" that is all-inclusive; gross and fine motor skills, spatial awareness, emotionally stimulating, builds self-confidence, improves discipline & listening skills, and much more.
My family consists of my super supportive husband, my oldest daughter (8) youngest daughter (6), and then the littlest one is 3years old, but he was born 3-1/2 months early. We spent a significant amount of time in the NICU in the city we live in and are forever grateful for modern medicine! Our life has been a rollercoaster and, as crazy as this sounds, I wouldn't have it any other way... mostly. haha!
Being a mama myself, I try to be flexible with my schedule and appreciate the understanding from parents as I navigate our medically complex son's needs as well as two active girls!
I offer discounts to siblings, love to work with groups that want to dance together online, and I am always willing to work with you on group discounts, multi-class discounts, and one-on-one private lessons!
Please message me for more info on classes or to ask any questions!
