US Grade 4
This class is taught in a self-paced (flexible) format. There are no live meetings. Learners will watch a mini-lesson video (5-10 minutes) that will teach the subject of the week. After watching the instructional video, learners will complete a worksheet (2-3 pages) about the lesson of the week. The worksheet should take 20-40 minutes to complete. I will provide a complete step-by-step instructional video for the entire worksheet. You can choose to watch the entire video or skip around to certain questions for extra help or to check your own work. I will be available to answer questions via message if needed. This class covers an entire year of 4th grade math and is broken into 4 parts. Parts can be taken in any order or simultaneously. Part 1 (This class) - multiplication and division Part 2 - geometry, multiples, factors, and decimals Part 3 - fractions Part 4 - word problems, operations, measures of central tendency (mean, median, mode) This class will focus on multi-digit multiplication and division. Many methods will be introduced for both operations. When completing the worksheet, learners can choose to use the introduced method or any method they choose. The step-by-step video will be completed using the weekly method. Part 1 Weekly Schedule: Week 1: multiplying multi-digit numbers using the traditional method Week 2: multiplication using partial products Week 3: multiplication using expanded form Week 4: multiplication using the box method Week 5: multiply 3 or more numbers Week 6: 2 digit by 1 digit using long division without remainders Week 7: 2 digit by 1 digit using long division with remainders Week 8: division using partial quotients Week 9: division using the distributive property Week 10: multiplying & dividing numbers ending in zero Week 11: multiplying fractions Week 12: multiplication of 4 digit numbers
