Tegan Bombard, M.Ed., is a highly qualified educator with a strong background in literacy instruction. She holds a Master's degree specializing in literacy education, which equips her with advanced knowledge and strategies for promoting reading and writing skills in students. Additionally, she possesses another Master's degree specializing in English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), demonstrating her expertise in supporting English language learners. Throughout her career, Tegan has been recognized for her exceptional teaching abilities. She has received prestigious awards, including Teacher of the Year and Innovative Educator. These accolades highlight her commitment to innovative and effective teaching practices that inspire and engage students. Currently, Tegan homeschools her two children, which allows her to intimately understand the needs and challenges of individual learners. With this firsthand experience, she brings a unique perspective to her teaching approach, prioritizing learner-centered instruction that empowers students to take ownership of their learning journey. Tegan is dedicated to creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel valued and encouraged to explore their interests and passions. Homework Offered
In this asynchronous class, you will have weekly assignments focused on reading, writing, and revision. These assignments will align with the week's theme and provide opportunities to refine your skills based on feedback from Mrs. Bombard.2 - 4 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Learners will receive personalized assessments and feedback based on weekly learning objectives and success criteria. These objectives and criteria will be tailored to each learner's strengths and weaknesses identified through previous work. Families can request a formal grade and/or report aligned with their philosophy and schooling requirements within the first week of class, as requests made later may not be accommodated.Grades Offered
All printable materials will be provided by Mrs. Bombard. Learners will need access to the books that they have selected for each 4-week unit. It is highly recommended that learners have access to either an in-person or digital library to access books at no cost to the family.
Families will have the opportunity to select the books that their learner will read during this class. A list of recommended texts has been provided and families are encouraged to select from that list. If a family wishes to select an alternative book that is not on the recommended list, please reach out to Mrs. Bombard to discuss this.
