4th & 5th Grade Math Weekly Check In
In this on-going class, students will check in weekly w/homework & general questions. If they don't have any, I have LOADS to review. We will color, play games, talk about math & school and miraculously get better at math in the process!
What's included
2 live meetings
1 hrs 20 mins in-class hours per weekAssessment
Informal assessment during class. I will communicate with parents on what the individual needs are and where they need to focus the help.Class Experience
US Grade 4 - 5
I will follow the questions they have in 4th and 5th grade math... topics will be learner-directed and dictated weekly based on what they are doing in school that week. Students should come to class with their questions ready. We'll have time to draw out solutions to the problems. We'll time ourselves and work toward solving a problem in 90 seconds, since that is what most standardized tests allow - I know, seems short, but totally doable. After their HW has been completed, we will play games around the topics listed. Update 10/28/22 - Time frame seems to be working well. We've been wrapping up the HW, with 5-7 minutes left to play the math games. :-) Week of August 21 - rounding and decimals Week of August 28 - area and multiplication facts Week of September 4 - order of operations Week of September 11 - simplifying expressions ========================= Other Possible Topic and Questions they may have: area patterns prime numbers angles and type types of triangles composite numbers regular and irregular polygons measurement (this is a big one) range, mean, median and mode choosing the most reasonable answer
Learning Goals
Students will become masters of math facts.

All things math here! But I also love to read! I can show you the math in any subject or area of interest. I love learning and making things, and have my Doctorate in Reading (just working on the Dissertation). I have a Bachelors in International Finance from the University of Miami, a Masters in Cultural Education and a Masters in Mathematics from Teachers College at Columbia University.
Classes I teach
Elementary Math
Algebra (my go to)
Geometry (my fave)
SAT Prep
Calculus (fave runner up)
Reading and Grammar
I make soap, deodorant, furniture, learned how to read eyes for possible illness, teach archery, cook mostly inedible food (great cakes though), I'm learning karate and yoga, and absolutely love American Football and I'm also a referee. You have to understand why you are learning something and it has to be relevant to you as well. All of my lessons are hands on and have games with them, yes, even algebra :-) Go Canes #C4L
I have 4 human children, 19 and counting plant babes, the cutest yorkie-poo ever, a new standard poodle puppy, a super fast tortoise, and a pet peacock named Pablo, and a slew of stray cats we feed and love.
