1-2 hours per week. Each week the learner is required to paint 1 of the 2 options. They are more than welcome to paint both options Each painting can take 45 min to 2 hours depending on the learner.Assessment
Creativity is a very personalized process, I encourage my students to take "Progress photos" so that when done, they can look back at how they transformed a black canvas into a painting. These photos are a great visual documentation of their learning. In a year or 5 years, they can look back at their photos and realize how far their skills have come. Thus boosting their morale/ self-esteem to do more creative things.Class Experience
Beginner Level
This is a flexible self-paced class with NO LIVE MEETINGS. Video instructions will be clear and logical to walk learners through the steps to create a simplified O'Keeffe painting. Each student will be able to watch the video instruction on their own schedule. Students will be provided videos, instructions, and a homework assignment on MONDAY of the scheduled week. To get the most out of the class I recommend turning in homework by FRIDAY to be reviewed before next week's paintings are released. Each week will have 2 painting options, Please paint at least 1 option (or both) *tip - want to improve painting skills faster? - Paint both paintings each week In this camp, Lovejoy will guide you via recorded video, through the step-by-step process to create up to 8 O'Keeffe paintings. The learner will get comfortable with blending, mixing paint, finishing a painting, and appreciating O'Keeffe's style. O'Keefe painted with watercolors but this camp is facilitated with acrylic paint, utilizing O'Keeffe's painting as inspiration. This course will increase the students' comfort with blending and brush control. This course utilizes traceables, for the initial line drawings. The student can print out (8.5x11 printout) the provided traceable and transfer it with a graphite pencil ( video instruction provided) or they can draw what they see from the provided image. This course is for beginner painters, who are familiar with the painting process and looking to refind their blending skills. (For first-time painters please check out the other flex camps and classes from Lovejoy) The painting instruction is delivered via recorded video. The learner is encouraged to pause the video and paint at their own pace. The learner will upload their paintings and any questions to be reviewed by Lovejoy. Lovejoy will reply answering the learner's questions as well as giving feedback on their painting for that week. The painting options will be a bit more challenging each week, giving the student a solid foundation of painting basics and reasons to grow. Through simple step-by-step instruction, the learner will have a nice foundation to continue on their creative journey. Lovejoy has a very patient and encouraging teaching style, she understands that painting/creativity is unique to each can and is able to give personalized feedback based on where each student is. Painting is like handwriting, each person has their own unique style.
