πŸ’‘We Make Math Make Sense!πŸ’‘

In this engaging "minds on" class, we will review 3rd grade math standards through direct instruction, guided practice, problem solving, games, and Number Talks.

In third grade, multiplication and division are introduced. A majority of the year is spent focusing on the understanding of these two operations and the relationship between them. By the end of third grade, your child should have all their multiplication facts (up to 100) memorized. We will work on this in our class to solidify that fact knowledge.

This course will be a combination of:
β€’	Direct Instruction
β€’	Independent Practice
β€’	Problem Solving
β€’	Critical Thinking
β€’	Building Number Sense
β€’	Interactive Games
β€’	Solving Digital Estimation Mysteries
β€’	Number Talks
β€’	Learning Strategies to be Flexible with Numbers
β€’	Opportunities to be Persistent Through Problem Solving
β€’	Strengthening Fact Fluency

The class will be structured as follows:
πŸ‘©πŸΌβ€πŸ€β€πŸ§‘πŸΎ (2 minutes) Community Building: "Would you Rather" or "Thumbs Up If" Icebreakers
πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ (3 minutes) Jump Start: Get our brains ready to work with Esti-mysteries, Which One Doesn't Belong, Number Talks, or math version of Two Truths and a Lie
πŸ‘©β€πŸ« (15 minutes) Mini-Lesson: I will present a short lesson for the skill(s) of the day using Nearpod, Google Slides/Powerpoint, Video Clips and/or Modeling
πŸ“ (20 minutes) Guided and Independent Practice: Learners will work independently and with me to practice and master the skill(s) of the day.
βœ… (5 minutes) Assessment and Fluency Work: I will check in to see where each learner is with the skill(s) of the day and students will get started on their multiplication and division fact fluency work if they need additional practice.
