US Grade 3
In this full-year 3rd grade Full Homeschool Curriculum, students will receive all the necessary tools to be successful in third grade and to prepare for the 4th grade. This class will cover everything in third grades, such as Math, Reading, Science, and Social Studies. Social studies in this class are concerned History. We will be using the material. We aim to ensure that learning is fun and successful for every learner. Our classes are a safe place for learners to express themselves and learn from classmates. Each day, the class will start with a Bell Ringer, which allows students to enhance and practice daily skills such as Writing and grammar. Students are encouraged to participate in class lessons, discussions, projects, and more. Interaction amongst the students allows the teacher to notice any learning disabilities, reluctant learners, communication, and so much more that our teacher may need to report to our parents. Students will have access to Zearn and Lalilo as learning interventions. Zearn Math is a complete math program that provides Common Core-aligned math lessons, personalized to individual learners and based on Eureka Math. Classes focus on three critical components: deep understanding, fluency, and problem-solving. Lalilo focuses on essential literacy skills like reading, word families, and letter sound recognition. Lalilo is web-based, easy to set up, and can be accessed through most devices. Teachers can assign specific lessons based on students' needs. Once students get going, Lalilo offers consistent feedback and reinforcement to help them work away at their own pace. All class materials will be provided to students through the Outschool platform and Google Classroom. We will read reading materials during our class visits. All reading materials will be on-grade level. Homework will be given every day in class and posted in the classroom. Although homework is optional, it is strongly encouraged for learners to complete it as extra practice. Every assignment is due; sometimes, it will be the next day or at the end of the lesson; the teacher will be sure to mention it in the class posting. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- We will read reading materials during our class visits. All reading materials will be on-grade level. We believe in helping all our learners increase their reading levels therefore daily reading homework is assigned. Our curriculum: Reading-Readworks Math-Eureka Math Science-P.h.D Science Social Studies-World History (Culture and Traditions by Eric Foner) Reading and Writing will cover the following: -Phonics - Reading - Spelling (each week students will receive a new set of words) - Writing - Grammar and punctuation - Literature - Poetry Math will cover the following: -Developing an understanding of multiplication and division and strategies for multiplication and division within 100 -Developing understanding of fractions, especially unit fractions (fractions with numerator 1) -Developing an understanding of the structure of rectangular arrays and of area -Describing and analyzing two-dimensional shapes Social Studies covers the following: We will discuss what a community is and what creates a community and our family, and everyday creates the community we live in. Students will have a better understanding of what creates the government. We will also learn the difference between the local and federal governments. -Communities -Local -Citizenship -Leaders -Governments -Economic systems in different communities Science covers the following: -Classification of animals: Vertebrates (with a backbone) and invertebrates (without a backbone) and the similarities and differences of animals. -The human body: The skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems. -Light and vision: Sunlight can create shadows, and light can be reflective. The color of the light hitting an object affects how the thing is seen. An object is seen when light traveling from the object enters the eye. -Astronomy and space: The properties of suns, moons, planets, and stars and their locations and movements.
