This is a 3rd Grade full curriculum FLEX class covering concepts in Math, English, Science and Social studies. It is a FLEX class which means they're no live meetings. The classes will be over 8 weeks and this is part 1.

Homework
2-4 hours per week. Learners will be set tasks and activities to complete in their own time. Any activity turned in will be given feedback by your teacher.

Class Experience

US Grade 3
What will be taught?:
This class teaches a full year’s curriculum of Math, English including; reading, writing, grammar/phonics and  spelling; Science, including hands-on experiments and Social studies including civics  for 3rd grade on a flexible schedule. No live meetings will take place but lots of fun, hands-on videos will be posted to complete at your leisure. Learners can interact with the teacher and other learners and take part in the set activities. 

What topics will the class cover?:
Each week, we will have rotational lessons in English, Math, Science and Social Studies. There will be activities posted for  math, English, and spelling practice each week. Teachers are available to answer any questions and will give feedback on the homework. 


How is the class structured?:
Our Flex classes provide the opportunity to participate in a fun engaging class on a schedule that works for you. Our classes include interactive games and other hands-on activities as well as physical movement to engage every child in their learning. All of our classes are taught in a 100% inclusive and child-led environment. 

Week 1
-Grammar- We will review simply parts of speech 
-Spelling- Students will have a spelling list this week. 
-Math- Rounding to the Nearest 10 and 100
-Science- Introduction to the Solar system. 
-Writing- Students will create descriptive writing. 
-Economics- Supply and demand

Week 2
-Grammar- Sentence structure
 -Spelling- Students will have a spelling list each week
-Math- Addition and Subtraction Within 1000
-Civics- Community responsibilities
-Life Science- Animal Adaptations
-Reading- Historical Fiction

Week 3
-Reading-Poems
-Spelling-  Students will have a spelling list each week
-Math- Multiplying Multiples of 10
-Geography- How to read and understand maps and globes
-Writing- Students will write funny paragraphs.
-Life Science- Animal Classifications

Week 4
-Grammar-parts of speech
-Reading- Short story
-Spelling-  Students will have a spelling list each week
-Math- Basic Multiplication 1-6 to mastery
-Earth Science- Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars
-Economics- Wants and Needs

Week 5
-Grammar- Regular and irregular nouns
-Spelling- Students will have a spelling list each week
-Writing- Students will write a factual paragraph
-Math- Basic multiplication 6-12 to mastery
-Economics- Good and Services
-Life Science- Habitats

Week 6
-Grammar-Adverbs
-Reading- Reading a fairy-tale
-Spelling- Students will have a spelling list each week
-Math- Number Patterns & Comparing Numbers
-Civics- What is government? 
-Life Science- Biomes

Week 7
-Writing- Poetry
-Spelling- Students will have a spelling list each week
-Reading- Biographies
-Geography- Continents through animals
-Math-  Time to the Nearest Minute
-Earth Science- Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune


Week 8
-Spelling- Students will have a spelling list each week
-Writing- Writing through emotions
-Grammar- sentence structure
-Civics- The Three Branches of Government
-Physical Science- Laws of motion
-Math-Measurement

Learning Goals

Children will learn the foundations they need within the 3rd grade (Part 1) curriculum using hands-on and child-led learning styles on a flexible schedule watching pre-recorded lessons.

Lesson 1:
Spelling and Economics
 We will go over the weekly spelling words and learn about the concept of supply and demand. 
Lesson 2:
Math 1 and Writing
 We will learn how to round numbers to the nearest 10 and 100. We will also write a paragraph about our favorite characters. 
Lesson 3:
Math 2
 We will practice rounding numbers to the nearest 10 and 100. 
Lesson 4:
Science and Grammar
 We will learn about our solar system and discuss different parts of speech.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
