Class Experience

Come learn basic concepts of how to sit at the keyboard, fingering, black and white keys, note reading, music theory terms and symbols, types of notes and their values, intervals and beginning chords, and how to play by ear! This is an ongoing Private Piano class for those seeking beginning piano lessons. With a quick and efficient lesson block of 15 minutes, you can choose to meet 1 or more times a week at your selected day and time.

NOTE: Please book your time at least 24 hours in advance of the day and time of your requested lesson so I can receive your booking via email and have materials prepared for your introductory lesson. If you book the day of the lesson, we will start the following week.

Make-Up Policy: Due to the shorter lesson block, unless you have booked more than one weekly lesson time, missed lessons will NOT be made up.

If you have booked more than one weekly lesson and will miss both due to a conflict, Parents MUST give AT LEAST 48 hours notice if a learner will be absent in order to request a make-up date. Make-ups are always granted as a courtesy but NOT GUARANTEED and the Instructor is within her right to refuse a make-up request. Any no-shows without prior notice will be denied a make-up.

A Lesson Book and Workbook will be assigned after assessing your child's knowledge of the keyboard. I usually work with the Alfred Series of Books, the Alfred Prep Course or the Alfred Basic Piano Course for children, however I also incorporate my own learning materials outside of the book to create a unique and fun understanding of the material covered.

Students will also learn how to sightread music and develop a musical ear, apply basic to immediate principles in music theory, ear training, and sight singing.

See you soon!
Learning Goals
Goals will be for the student to learn to practice effectively so that they become better musicians. Over time the student will be able to set goals and develop self-esteem, confidence, and discipline.

Hi there! I offer young minds effective ways to nurture their passion for music by guiding them with patience, creativity, and compassion.

Originally from MD, I received my Bachelor's degree in Music at George Washington University and my Master's Degree in Vocal Performance at Catholic University of America in Washington DC. Since 2002 I've performed and recorded professionally and have enjoyed teaching voice and piano to children and adults for over 20 years.
It's truly rewarding for me to motivate children to think outside the box as they learn concepts of music, theory, and ear training. I teach piano for ages 3 and up, from beginning to intermediate level (up to Level 3 proficiency) as well as offer basic keyboarding (playing with chords and playing by ear). I offer private voice for all levels and genres for ages 10 and up, and group vocal ensembles or musical theatre studies for students as young as 8 years old.
