For students who have no animation experience, it is required that they have completed Series Part 1 before they join this class. Please see links below: Part 1: Fundamentals in Anime Movies Production https://outschool.com/classes/digital-animation-camp-part-1-fundamentals-in-anime-movies-production-A3zAZlPc?refuid=RzeseCIM Students who have completed this class are recommended to join Series Part 3 where they will anime whole body movement. Please see link below: Part 3: Body Movement https://outschool.com/classes/digital-animation-camp-part-3-anime-movies-production-body-movement-XXWH9tUN?refuid=RzeseCIM In Part 2, students will be introduced to the application of visual effects in anime. We will explore animation techniques to create motion graphic effects. Anime which are commonly done with motion graphics include fire, smoke, flowing water, falling leaves, snow, dust, abstract visual effects like glowing objects, and impact splatter like explosions, sparks, meteor tails, etc. It is usually used in emotional scenes to beautify the scenes, or power up the characters in fights/ magical fights, with the intention of heightening up the feelings in the audience. Day 1 Lightning and Super Saiyan Goku Students will animate pulsating lightning and moving light reflection around Goku, from Dragon Ball Z. Students will use the Straight Ahead animation technique to emulate the random momentum of the running of the lightning. Day 2 Fire and Todoroki Students will be animating a live fire in Todoroki from My Hero Academia’s hands with a moving shadow to add depth to the effect. Students will use the Straight Ahead animation technique to emulate the organic nature of the fire shapes. Day 3 Floating Kanji and Dio Brando Students will add an eerie glow to the Sinister Dio with “MENACING” kanji effects overtop. The effect will be done with a Particle Brush and gradient filter around Dio to make him glow purple. This is a beginners class for anime enthusiasts who would like to bring their characters to life with animation and produce movies digitally. By starting small and simple and committing to a deeper understanding of fundamental principles, we engage students with a gradual process of discovery and refinement as they try to push their work to a new higher standard. Class is highly-interactive and students will have the opportunity to exchange their ideas and chat with other Anime fans. Students are encouraged to pursue their interests in Part 3 where they will augment their animation skills to add body movement. _______________________________________ Please read below for frequently-asked questions on our policies: Mandatory Video Check-In Video check-in is mandatory for safety purposes per Outschool policy. Supply List
Hardware: Students will need two devices. One will be used to view the class on Outschool (can be a phone) and the other device will be needed to draw and animate. The second device must have a stylus. Software: Photopea Here is the link to access this browser-based free online digital editing program: https://www.photopea.com Photopea is a free browser based photo editor and illustration tool capable of rendering and exporting images and basic animations. The interface works just like Adobe Photoshop but with limited functionality to make it viable for use in the browser. It is completely free to use making it a budget friendly way to learn digital art, you do not need to create an account or subscribe. Photopea can run on any device (desktop, laptop, tablet, phone or any other computer), but for the best comfort, we recommend having a big screen, a precise pointing device (a mouse or a stylus) and a keyboard. Photopea runs completely in your device, just like Sketch or Photoshop do. It is compatible for both Mac and Windows.
