Beginner Level
Not ready for 3rd grade yet? Need a refresher of 2nd Grade material? I've got you! In this 5 week class, students will review skills learned in 2nd grade, along with some new skills to learn, so that they are all ready to go to 3rd grade in September! I will be teaching a 2nd grade ELA (English Language Arts) skill in each lesson, along with a 2nd grade level math lesson. These are fun lessons that shouldn't be too challenging, but make them dig a little deeper into their memory of how to do the lessons. All students will be helped and listened to as they need, and I will give direct attention individually. Throughout our class time together, We will alternate between a learning skill, and a fun activity. The class will work together as a group often to try to beat me in different challenges, (They ALWAYS win!) and my hope is that our class is fun, and enjoyable. I teach with an "I do, We do, You do" teaching method, and scaffold previously learned skills to build onto new skills. If these skills haven't been learned prior to the class, this method helps them to understand how the worksheets work. Hello! My name is Dina, and I am excited to have you here! First and foremost, I am a mama to 4 kidlings. Most are grown and 3 have left the nest, but I have 1 left at home. I love teaching kids. I love the "aha" on a child's face when they understand a new concept. I love the personalities that I come across. I have been teaching English online for several years to children ages 3-16. I have also been a preschool teacher for over 20 years.
If I could have had another career, I might have been a librarian, because I LOVE reading! Reading is one of my favorite hobbies!
Some of my other hobbies include hiking, gardening, my pets, and cooking!
I believe in finding the spark of curiosity that lives in every child, and encouraging it to grow. I hope to inspire my students through engagement with reading, learning, cooking, a positive mindset, play and laughter.
When I am not teaching classes I am a wedding officiant! I get to marry people~ which is so rewarding and special. :)
I have an ECE degree, a Bachelor of Arts, and a Masters in Business, and a Doctorate in Divinity. I also have my TESOL and TOEFL certifications.
I hope you will be inspired to have a class with me, and I am hopeful your child will have as much fun with me, as I plan to with them!
See you in the classroom!
Sincerely, Dina
