Class Experience

US Grade 2
Students in this class will be encouraged to ask questions, discuss the topic with the teacher, and have meaningful conversations with each other about the topic.

Class 1: Reading and using a letter-number grid. Students will also be able to make their own letter-number grid.
Class 2: Cardinal directions and reading a map. We will practice North, East, South, and West. We will practice ways to remember the directions and we will practice finding locations on a map using North, East, South, and West.
Class 3: Cardinal directions and reading a map. We will practice Northeast, Southeast, Northwest, and Southwest. We will practice finding locations on a map.
Class 4: Oceans (The Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Southern, and Arctic).
Class 5: Continents (North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Antarctica, Australia)
Class 6: Oceans and Continents. We will break down the oceans and continents to learn more about them).
Class 7: Oceans and Continents
Class 8: Urban, Suburban, Rural areas. We will discuss the similarities and differences between the three. We will also talk about how different people may have different opinions about each of the three areas.
Class 9: Urban, Suburban, Rural areas. Which area would you like to live in and why? Which area do you live in now? What do you like or dislike about it? 
Class 10: How does geography effect the way people live? 
Class 11: Laws and Rules- How are they made and reinforced? 
Class 12: Being a good citizen-What is a citizen? What makes a good citizen?
Class 13: Being a good citizen- What could happen if you are not a good citizen?
Class 14: People in your community- Who are the community helps near your home? 
Class 15: Make a map of a community that you would want to be a part of.

Some classes will have optional print outs. Students will need paper and pencil for some classes.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
