1-2 hours per week. I will provide worksheets that students will use in class for independent practice and then students have the option to complete the worksheets after class and submit to me to grade. I require all students to submit work by Friday, for a timely response.Assessment
Assessments are offered at the end of units for students to assess their knowledge. Assessments are take-home assignments and are not done in class and are optional. They are put in the classroom at the end of every unit. All assignments and assessments are gladly graded and corrected if submitted by Friday of each week.Letter Grade
Due to the various types of learners that are in each class, grades are offered per request. If you would like your student to receive a grade please let me know when you sign up for the class. I offer letter grades every 9 weeks along with a summary of your child's academic strengths and areas of concern.Class Experience
US Grade 2
Beginner Level
This class will cover all the essential topics that students need to know to succeed in second grade. Each week, students will receive worksheets that includes a spiral review of previous concepts and practice for the current week's topic. These materials will serve as a guide for the week's lessons and will help students stay on track with their learning. This class will incorporate hands-on activities, group discussions, and games to make learning engaging and fun. The curriculum outline I will be using is Eureka Math and my own teacher created materials, since I believe no one program meets the needs of all students and learning styles. Each week I will introduce the concept and during class we will use our whiteboard and/or paper as I teach and students demonstrate their understanding of the skill. Students will be given optional homework that can be submitted to me for correction. I am a former math interventionist with a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Design. Currently, I focus on grades first through fourth grade classes in order to ensure high quality instruction as well as materials. I aim to foster a relationship with my students and their families to make certain all my students are successful. I love teaching on Outschool and love that I am able to focus on the aspects of teaching that I love, which are math and curriculum design. This class consists of 16 weeks of curriculum that covers semester 1 of a full year curriculum. I do not share class videos because of privacy issues, however if your child misses a class please feel free to email me with any questions or support about the topic. Lesson 4: Make a ten to add within 20.
Lesson 5: Make a ten to add within 100. 30 mins online live lesson
Lesson 4:
Module 1
Lesson 6: Subtract single-digit numbers from multiples of 10 within 100.

Parental Guidance
Students will occasionally be asked to use scissors to cut out math shapes, etc. for lessons prior to class. Parental guidance is recommended.

Students will need a whiteboard and marker for live Zoom lessons.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Welcome! My name is Debbie and I am a certified teacher with a Bachelors of Science in Education with a concentration in the visual arts. I also hold Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on math and science. I have been lucky enough throughout my career to have taught grades K through 6 and be a math and reading interventionist. Math is one of my favorite subjects to teach and I love thinking of creative ways to get students to love it too and gain confidence.
