For the reading section, they will have mastered process of elimination and have a good understanding of how the test is trying to trick them. They will be able to identify the question type, actively read the passage looking for the answer, and apply process of elimination to select the correct answer. For the grammar section, they will be able to quickly identify which specific grammar rule the question is testing, call to mind the grammar rule, and answer the question correctly.
I have a BA and MA in linguistics, as well as a minor degree in English literature. I have been preparing students for standardized tests, like the SAT, for three years.
