This camp meets 4 times a week for 2 weeks, except for the June 28 - July 5th section. It is important to note this class is not about teaching astrology as a belief system or science, but rather a fun way to give insight on why horoscopes are so popular in modern society. The first class will be an introduction to the theories we will explore. I will go through a brief overview of history, discussing where the idea of zodiac signs came from and why they are separated into 4 elements; air, water, fire, and earth. This will give students who are unfamiliar with zodiac signs an understanding before we dive into each one. At the end of the first class, each student will share their zodiac sign and what they hope to learn during our camp. Starting with Aries and ending with Pisces we will go through two zodiac signs a day. With the aid of PowerPoints and videos, students will learn the dates for each zodiac season, the symbols, and the traits that are said to be found in people with that sign. At the end of each lesson, I will share celebrities with the same signs, and we will talk about people in the student's lives that have this sign as well. The discussion portion of class is important, astrology is not a science and this part of class allows students to see that first hand. On the last day of class, we will have our “Astrology Send-off Party”. We will discuss what is known as the “Big 3” placements. The rising, sun, and moon signs. I will explain the theory of each and then students will be able to share and compare what their big 3 placements are with each other. As a young girl who grew-up reading Teen Vogue and Seventeen magazine I always read my horoscope but had no idea where it came from or what my birth date had to do with it. That has inspired me to teach this course, at the end of this camp each student will leave with a clear understanding of the theory of zodiac signs. Supply List
A notebook or paper for note-taking is suggested for students but is not required. All class PowerPoints will be posted directly after class in addition to the live recordings of each session.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I am an Art teacher, focusing on visual arts. I currently am a Photographer in South Florida for a small studio, I also work for myself as a visual artist.
I believe everyone can tap into their inner artist. I never knew I was able to draw until I was asked to put pen to paper in class. I never thought I could paint, until I took oil painting in college, and if you would have told me 2 years ago I would have constructed a 30-foot wide sculpture I would have laughed. Like all other fields, art does not have to be innate, the ability to produce art can also come with practice and structure.
I have traveled cross country twice, lived on both coasts, and in 4 different states.
