Hi everyone! I'm Sola, and and I'm passionate about sharing the joy of playing the violin. Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to refine your skills, I create a welcoming and engaging learning environment that caters to your individual needs and goals.
My philosophy revolves around making music fun and fulfilling. We'll delve into both the technical skills needed to play beautifully and the theoretical knowledge that brings music to life. Ultimately, I want to help you develop a deep connection with music that will last a lifetime.
My teaching style is a vibrant blend of focused practice and the joy of discovery. I don't just want you to learn music – I want you to develop a profound appreciation for it and a commitment to your musical journey.
About me:
Music has been woven into the fabric of my life since I first held a violin at the age of nine. Under the guidance of the incredible Mary Sokol Brown, a violinist with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, my love for music flourished. It wasn't just one style that captivated me – I delved into the lively rhythms of Celtic music, Classical, Romantic and Baroque, and everything in between.
My own musical education has been as diverse as my taste in music. I studied the Suzuki method, which focuses on learning through listening and playing, and also thrived in the Royal Conservatory of Music curriculum, achieving Level 10 violin certification with first-class honours. And because I believe in constantly growing as a teacher, I'm currently pursuing an ARCT certification in violin education with Dr. Jin Youn.
For eight years, I had the privilege of performing with symphony orchestras across North America – from California to Vancouver and Toronto. Now, I'm excited to share my experience and passion for music with you!
