Writing is a very complex skill, which can cause great difficulty and frustration for many children. Like learning to read, teaching writing is most effective when it is broken down and explicitly and systematically taught. Students in this 1:1 class will receive direct spelling instruction using phonics knowledge to map words orthographically. This class is designed to support the needs of students who have specific learning needs such as dyslexia and specific learning disabilities in writing, but would benefit all learners.
