Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello parents and readers! My name is Emily Pereira and I am excited to teach your child. I had the pleasure of teaching first grade as a classroom teacher for five years before moving abroad to teach English as an Additional Language and Reading Support for two years in Santiago, Chile. I am currently teaching kindergarten online.
My passion is early literacy development and I look forward to teaching classes on reading, word study, thinking routines, high frequency words, and writing in both a private and small group setting. My goal is to create flexible and strategic readers through interactive and engaging lessons.
I earned a bachelor's of science in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Elementary and Middle School Education from Longwood University in Farmville, VA. Additionally, I earned a Master's of Education in Reading from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA. I currently hold a Virginia Collegiate Professional teaching license with endorsements to teach Elementary pk-6, Middle School English 6-8, Reading Specialist K-12, and English as an Additional Language K-12.
I love fun colorful children's books, cooking, my family, and dogs! I hope to see you in a class soon!
