This won't be your typical reading class, but rather reading filled with games, art projects, puzzles, and more all centered around age-appropriate reading skills. The purpose of the class is to help students practice reading and reading comprehension using low-stress activities that are sure to bring a smile to their faces. The parents will communicate their needs before class, then it will be my job to create a tailor-made class that their children will enjoy! One example of a reading project would be for the students to read original passages that I've created on Google Slides. Then the students will use Google Slides to recreate the story using the provided graphics. It's not just about saying what happened in the story. They will act out the story and really delve into true reading comprehension. Topics that will be covered include, but are not limited to: Oral reading by specific grade levels Reading comprehension strategies Close reading Cloze reading Predictions Main Idea Theme Setting Character development Test taking skills Reading comprehension is an important aspect of education that reaches into every subject throughout a child's life. I want to help your child learn to not only read better, but to completely understand what they are reading.
