In this ongoing course, the student will practice different reading comprehension strategies at their independent reading level.
Class experience
US Grade 3 - 7
In this ongoing course, we will visit the Common Core Reading Standards based on your child's independent reading level. These will visit comprehension strategies such as inferences, finding/using text evidence, compare and contrast, main idea and details, and so much more! We will also practice responding to reading through writing. The class will be structured in the I do (modeling), we do (guided practice), and you do (independent) model of learning. I will teach via shared screen in Zoom...
I will use reading strategies to improve my reading comprehension.
Homework Offered
Students will practice reading skills through online practice weekly.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Statement for External (3rd Party Websites): Google Slides will not need to be accessed by students, and therefore does not require an account. It will only be used as a shared screen method of instruction by the teacher via Zoom. Lumio by SMART does not require an account, only a class code that will be shared during class for independent instruction. It is an instructional platform made by SMART (creators of Smartboards) where students can display their work in real time. If the student can "draw on the screen" in Zoom, Lumio access is not necessary for class.
