PRIMARY FOCUS: Reading Comprehension ~ although I can assist with content-based writing prompts, this listing is not intended to focus on extensive writing skills and grammar. However, my lessons do include short writing prompts that are based on the reading material. These sessions are learner-led and are based on the literary needs of the student. Learners will learn to explore key points of the plot, gain confidence in analyzing themes, successfully interpret literary elements, and determine character motivations.
About me - ~ I have taught English Language Arts and Literature for over 18 years in middle and high school. ~ I am ELA certified in the State of Texas for grades 4th through 8th. ~ I am certified as a generalist in Early Childhood - 4th Grade. ~ I am certified in ESL for grades Early Childhood - 12th Grade. ~ I am certified in Special Education for Early Childhood through 12th Grade grades.
Homework Offered
PARENTAL DISCRETION: ~ Homework is readily available for all of my lessons. ~ Learners are encouraged to independently complete any questions not completed during the live ZOOM session. ~ Live feedback is very valuable. Therefore, feedback for completed homework can be provided in the forthcoming session.Assessments Offered
Informal and Formal: ~ I use casual, informal assessments during the 45-minute session. Plus, the reading comprehension questions found in the text provide a traditional and more formal approach to assessing my learners. I balance the two formats to determine the needs of the learner.Grades Offered
Learners should have easy access to digital or tangible note paper.
