Class Experience

US Grade Preschool - 1
In this one on one private instruction class, the learner will listen to a story that is read by Teacher Amanda. She will show the story (via her camera) so that your learner is able to see pictures and words from our story. The story plot will focus on friendship, learning, having fun, helping, or animals. We will discuss possible tricky word pronunciation, main characters of the story, story plot of the story, character reactions, character feelings, and more. The goal of this class is to help learners develop and continue improving upon their listening skills and reading comprehension skills. This one-on-one approach gives children individualized attention. Teacher Amanda loves reading and hopes to help share that love for reading with each and every learner. During the class, Teacher Amanda will read 1-3 books to your learner depending on book length, our discussion, and time available. This is a one time class, although Teacher Amanda does have approximately 20 age-appropriate books in her library collection if your learner would like to sign up more than once. Please reference the books listed below in the "Sources" section to decide if your learner would have interest in story time with any of the books that are offered.

*Please note that this is NOT a tutoring class, but rather a one-on-one time for your learner to listen to the story time, answer questions, and discuss the story with Teacher Amanda verbally. There are no print-outs, materials, or hand-outs provided. This class is mostly listening based for your learner, with some discussion at the end of each story and at the end of the class time frame.
