Assessment
I contact families after each lesson with an update on what we worked on for that class.Class Experience
US Grade 4 - 7
Reading requires many skills: Phonological awareness (letter sounds and syllables) Decoding (letter-sound awareness, letter patterns) Word recognition (common words) Vocabulary (background knowledge, context) Literacy knowledge (print, genre, reading with expression) This private tutoring reading class is designed to improve your learner's reading skills, based on where your learner is currently working, in order to improve their overall reading skills. I work with each learner individually to identify their strengths and weaknesses and create a personalized learning plan that meets their specific needs and because this is a 1:1 private lesson I am able to provide individualized attention and support. **Reading Practice: word games, sentence matching, fluency patterns, comprehension **Vocabulary Development: expand learner vocabulary through word morphology, prefixes, roots, and suffix knowledge. **Reading Comprehension: develop improved comprehension by using active reading, visualization, learning common text structures, and using graphic organizers to show comprehension. **Spelling Practice: Using the science of reading to recognize patterns and sounds. Parents, please reach out to me before each class to let me know what your goals are for your learner.
