Class Experience

Welcome to Mrs. D's Art Room where every day is a wonderful opportunity to explore something new and creative.

In this delightful art and craft class, we will be using various colored construction paper to create beautiful shapes and patterns. We will roll, pinch, and press the paper to form stunning designs, which can be arranged on paper or card stock to make charming greeting cards or 3-dimensional art pieces.

We will learn how to tightly roll the paper around a pencil, toothpick, or quilling tool to create intricate quilling patterns. Young artists can let their creativity shine by embellishing their cards with glitters, sequins, pearls, and more.

For the background of their card, students have two lovely options: they can layer different colored paper stock of various sizes, or they can use paints to create a beautiful backdrop.

Students will be encouraged to socialize and share their artwork, but it's not mandatory. They will also be supported in making their card or artwork unique and given the time to complete their art independently if they need more time. I will adapt the pace of our class based on each student's level of expertise.

No prior experience is needed for this class; learners will be guided through each step with care and patience.

Looking forward to seeing you soon!

Supply List
Please remember the following details for the class:

It's important to have Paper Quilling strips in the colors that bring you joy. For my demonstration, I used
14 yellow strips, 3 red stripes 1 dark green, and 2 light green strips

Feel free to choose the colors that speak to you.

I've used specific measurements for my card, but please don't feel limited by them. You can adjust the measurements to suit your preferences.

For the base card, it's best to have cardstock or construction paper pre-cut to 4x6 inches in a peach color or a color that brings you comfort. Additionally, you'll need yellow construction paper pre-cut to be 1/2 inch smaller than the base card, and white or green cardstock pre-cut to 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches.

Make sure to have a quilling tool (suggested), but if not available, a toothpick or pencil will work just fine! And don't forget to have wet school glue or a glue stick on hand. Kids-friendly scissors are optional, but they can be helpful to have around.
If you need a more detailed supply list before the class, please don't hesitate to reach out. Thank you!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello and Welcome Outschoolars! I’m Mrs.D. ! I appreciate you considering me to be a part of your young artist's art journey!

I teach various art classes that involve color theories, color wheels, and color schemes that work together to create human figures, landscaping, and canvas painting with easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions. I love to teach different styles and techniques of art using Art Theory.

I am an artist by profession. I have a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts. I have participated in many art exhibitions in my public art center and library and taught art, crafts, and card making in elementary schools and Girl Scouts as a volunteer. I love to share art with my community.

I have been teaching 1:1 art classes online and in person for the last 5 years to ages 4 to 14 years. I have instructed children online all around the world, and continue to teach local classes and workshops in my community. I am so happy to continue what I am doing on a bigger and better platform from the comfort of my home.

I like to teach Art Theory in most of my projects so kids will learn multiple things without even realizing it. I believe all students can learn, and art is the best way to express yourself and your feelings in your unique way.

Art helps to improve hand and eye coordination. It also helps to grow your concentration and patience. Sometimes young minds can't express themselves through talking, but through drawing. I love connecting with students through art and helping them grow, laugh, and have some fun!

Class Expectation: Everyone works at different speeds. If the child is not finished with the piece by the end of class, they can finish the remaining picture at home and post it in the classroom.

Join me on this incredible adventure to take your child’s passion to the next level.

Thank you for visiting my profile! I’m looking forward to being a part of your child's art journey, growth, and success; can’t wait to see you in class!
