This class is for learners who may have challenges with breaking down words and understanding the relationship of letters and the sounds they create. Students will start to bring the sounds of the alphabet together.
Class experience
US Grade Kindergarten - 2
The class will be based on the Heggerty and PRESS reading intervention system. 🌞Each day students will work together and start with a phonemic awareness (isolating, segmenting, blending and manipulating letter sounds) warm-up. After their warm up, students will be introduced to sight words that will be practiced daily to gain retention. 🍁Word work will follow, focused on a certain vowel/digraph sound for the week. A whiteboard with a pen and eraser. Some students enjoy using magnetic letter tiles on whiteboards instead of pens, which is also encouraged.
