In this one-on-one class, phonics and fluency lessons will be individualized for your learner. We will have fun while using Orton-Gillingham strategies to increase reading level. I look forward to helping your child grow.

Hello, I'm so glad you found one of my classes! This class will focus on understanding phonics patterns and decoding unknown words with those patterns. If this is your first class with me, the initial lesson will focus on developing a positive student-teacher-parent relationship. This includes identifying student interests, strengths, and areas of growth. There will also be discussion between the guardian and myself regarding class goals. To ensure effective tutoring, the teacher suggests meeting 3x per week. Book additional recurring meetings after the initial purchase.The goal of each session is to learn a specific phonics pattern and use it to decode (read) unknown words.
Certified Teacher with degrees in Elementary Education and Special Education Masters in Literacy Education Taught special education (specifically reading) for 10 years Tutored reading in a one-on-one setting for 7 years Trained in Orton-Gillingham (OG) through the Institute of Multisensory Education (IMSE)

(1) A regular laptop, Google Chromebook, iPad, or desktop computer is needed. (2) A webcam (internal or external) is essential for this course. (3) A mouse for manipulating onscreen tiles - unless you have an iPad or touch screen computer. (4) A headset with a microphone on the headphones is highly recommended and preferred so that both the student and the teacher can hear the sounds the other makes clearly and precisely.
Adult guidance may be needed to assist with on-task behavior.
