Homework
1 hour per week. Learners can expect small, fun, and manageable homework assignments, such as a few sentences on a given topic, research tasks, new word generation, and readings. These assignments will obviously vary in size and specificity according to the learner's needs, but it is never my intention to give anything too difficult or time-consuming.Class Experience
This class aims to establish a set of strategies the learner can use to work towards their goals. Some may want to write a better English or Social Studies essay, and others may simply want general writing or research help. The topics that this class will cover include but are not limited to: - Sentence structure - Word choice - Paragraph organization - Writing a good thesis statement - Argumentation and rhetoric - Research and quote selection - Citation In my 1:1 classes, I am here for the learner. Whatever they feel they need help with is what we will work on that day. Our first meeting will probably include a lot of discussing their past experiences with writing, and what they'd like to set for their writing goals.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Film/Cinema/Video Studies from University of Calgary
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film Studies from the University of Calgary, and am currently completing my Bachelor's of Education at St Mary's University in Calgary. All this time in post-secondary has given me plenty of practice with reading, writing, editing, and proofreading essays, projects, and other scholarly work. Reading and writing are two of my lifelong passions. Also, my father is a retired high school ELA teacher, and I thank him for my sharpened sense of grammatical accuracy.
