Class Experience

My class will focus on the individual needs of the student. Often ESL companies have lessons that are "one-size fits all." Many students would benefit from being able to take the time to focus on areas that haven't been mastered yet. For example, a student may read well, but not yet have the ability to talk about what was read. Or perhaps, a young student knows many vocabulary words but would benefit from learning to read accurately and fluently at a higher level. Older students may read very well and succeed at grammar exercises but need more support to talk conversationally or write paragraphs with correct grammar. I can help students at every level.

Class 1: An introductory lesson where I will be able to analyze the student's ability in reading, speaking, vocabulary usage, and grammar.

The following classes will be customized to work on specific goals. All classes will have pronunciation correction.

Beginners
Students will learn the alphabet, phonics, and sight words to learn to read and write English. We will sing a short song. Students will learn vocabulary words related to the phonic sounds. Students will learn simple sentences to answer questions such as, "What's your name? How are you? What can you see? What is it? What can you do?" Students will learn numbers and colors to answer questions such as, "How many ____ do you see? What color is it?" Students will learn singular and plural nouns and the present tense.

Each class will have a short review of previously learned material.

Young Learners
These lessons are for students who can already read and speak simple sentences.
Students may sing a short song. Students will learn to read and use vocabulary words in complete sentences related to clothes, seasons, weather, countries, etc. We will use adjectives, demonstrative adjectives, possessive adjectives, the present progressive tense, and learn to ask questions. Students will learn to read more advanced phonic blends and longer stories. Students will learn to answer reading comprehension questions.

Intermediate Students
These lessons are for students who have a good knowledge of basic English.
Students will learn to read and use vocabulary words in their own sentences. Students will continue to learn more advanced phonic blends. We will read longer stories, answer reading comprehension questions, and learn to retell stories. Students will answer "Why?" questions and apply the material to their own lives. Students will learn to use the past tense, irregular verbs, comparative adjectives, and prepositions.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their ability to understand, read, write, and speak English well.
