1:1 Creative Writing Ongoing Club -Using Movies to Inspire: Experienced Teacher

Write for fun! Join me for a one-on-one creative writing club, where we use short, animated films to inspire. Learners will gain confidence in this open-ended class where children have the freedom to choose their writing outcomes.

1 live meeting
55 mins in-class hours per week
Homework
1 hour per week. Each week, children are encouraged to complete or refine the collaborative work initiated in class. They are warmly invited to submit their efforts to me after the session, opening the door to valuable feedback and constructive guidance.
Assessment
Children will be given ongoing formative assessments throughout the lesson.

Beginner - Advanced Level
🌟 Join me for a 1:1 version of this creative writing course, where we will use the stimulus of short, animated films to inspire writing. This class fosters creativity as it is an open-ended class where children have the freedom to choose their writing outcomes.🎥✨

🤝 Beginners will be guided step-by-step, and advanced students are challenged with targeted questions and vocabulary.

🍿 Weekly Cinematic Exploration – watching a handpicked short films (4-10 minutes) 

🗨️ Dynamic Discussions - encouraging expression of thoughts and opinions.

📝 Writing- Children choose prompts that resonate, making writing a personal and enjoyable endeavor.

🤝 Writing Support-     I provide guidance and encouragement for a positive learning experience throughout the writing process.

🗣️ Sharing work and feedback within the class. 

🕒There is always an opportunity for students to finish their work after class and submit for feedback as I wouldn’t want a student to feel rushed or pressured into sharing.

🎓w/c 11th June-5 Metres 80 (High Diving giraffes)

🎓w/c 18th June- The One for All- ‘From day dot, young Geoff had a curious and unshakeable love for beans.’ 

🎓w/c 25th June- Don't Go- The family cat is enjoying a relaxing morning at home, snoozing on the sofa, tucking into his dinner - when his peace is shattered by an unusual visitor.  Will cat ever catch him?

🎓w/c 2nd July-  Rock, Paper, Scissors -Have you ever wondered what would happen if Rock, Paper and Scissors met each other?

🎓w/c 9th July- Taking Flight-  After being dropped off with his 'boring, old Grandpa' one boy's dismay is turned into a thrilling adventure through the power of a shared imagination, a 'Radio-Flyer' and a story telling Grandpa. When Dad returns will the fun be over? 

🎓w/c 16th July- The Clock Tower- A beautiful dancer spends all of her life stuck at the top of the clock tower.  Reverso- A story about a man whose whole life is upside down

 For over 15 years now, I have been working as a teacher in mainstream British primary schools (with children aged 4-11). In my role, I have worked with a range of children, from those with additional needs to children whom have been classified as gifted and talented.

For 10 years, I have been the head of English at two different schools, where I have had the responsibility for driving progress and achievement. My focus as a teacher and a leader has always been to help children reach academic excellence through exciting and innovative lessons.
