1-on-2 A Private Public Speaking Class for Two (Siblings, Friends, a Pod)
Class experience
Beginner - Advanced Level
This class is kept deliberately small at only 2 learners to make sure all the learners who attend get focused, personalised feedback and support for their public speaking. A great class to take with a sibling, friend, or in a pod. As well as being a nice, supportive environment for building confidence and skills. In this ongoing class we will work on your learner's use of voice (with areas such as pitch, precision, pace, projection, volume, intonation, accent, emphasis,...
This class is taught in English.
In each class, learners will learn and try out different public speaking techniques. They will also develop their confidence, focus, attention to detail, and see what they are capable of when they venture outside their comfort zone.
I've acted in and directed productions of these stories and wrote an adaptation, so I know the characters extremely well. I am a fully qualified teacher (BAPA, PGCE) with 16+ years of experience teaching Drama (and Music, PSHCE, and English) and Performing Arts in bricks and mortar schools, where I currently still teach part-time, including running small group and 1:1 confidence-building workshops. I also have many years of experience leading community workshop schemes (like create a play in a week) and local drama groups for ages 4 to 16. As a professional actress, I've performed to children from ages 2-14 in theatres, arts centres, social clubs, historical properties, nurseries, and schools. Playing roles such as the Gingerbread man and a tortoise, to a wartime headmistress and Queen Elizabeth the first! With lots of Q & A and interactive workshops along the way. I then branched into presenting (live, events, radio, some TV, and for holiday companies across Europe) including some Voiceover work. I currently create and present drama and presenter tuition videos and have a regular podcast. I have produced and directed many productions (musicals and plays) as well, including some I have written myself.
Learners need to be able to comfortably read 1 or 2 pages of text in order to be able to apply public speaking techniques to it.
Pages of text (adapted from those freely available in the public domain) will be shared via screen share for each class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
