Class Experience

Students will learn the art of ventriloquism and puppetry. They will interact with the coach. Session covers: 

Ventriloquist Alphabet:
There are 19 letters which can easily be said without moving your lips. These letters make up the ventriloquist alphabet. Students will learn this alphabet and will demonstrate they can say those letters without moving their lips.

Letter Substitution:
There are 7 letters which can not be said without moving your lips. Students will be learn how to say words like motorbike without actually saying the word. Instead, they would replace the letters which can not be pronounced without moving their lips with letters which sound similar and can easily be said without lip movement or with very little lip movement.

Throwing Your Voice:
No one can really throw their voice. Students will learn the secrets of the illusion of doing so.

Hand Movement:
Students will learn how to open and close the puppets mouth correctly. Without doing, it correctly, the puppet will be looking up whilst talking/singing. That's where hand movement comes into play.

Mouth Positioning:
Students will learn the correct positioning of their mouth during ventriloquism.

Keeping the Puppet Alive:
It's very important that the puppet remains alive at all times during a performance. Students will learn how to do this.

Rods:
Students will learn about the different types of puppet hand rods and how they can be attached.

Talking in Sync:
Students will learn how to ensure their puppets talk in sync.

Creating a Character/Voice:
Students will learn how to create a character/voice for their puppet.

Learning Lines:
Students will learn how to correctly lines their lines. 

Sight-reading
Sight-Reading also known as cold reading is when an actor (or anyone else) reads aloud from a script (or other text) with little or no rehearsal, study or practice in advance. It's is a technique used by actors and performers in theatre, television, film and other performance arts fields. Sight-reading is also common in auditions.
Learning Goals
Students will learn the art of ventriloquism and puppetry and leave the session having learnt a lot during the short time. Students receive a certificate of achievement upon completion of class
