Class Experience

Beginner Level
Join Ms. AJ for private music lessons to focus on guitar or ukulele. Students will learn the basics of their instrument, explore new chords, and learn to read tabs. Ms. AJ fosters an environment of fun and rigor, encouraging student success.

All classes begin with an introduction to strings, frets, and various finger placements. Students will then be given a series of strengthening drills to practice outside of class.

Here is a sample of the first 4 sessions:

Session 1: Frets, Chords, and Finger Placement
Session 2: Learn chord placement for G, Create a practice Routine
Session 3: Learn chord placement for C, practice first song
Session 4: Learn chord placement for A, practice a song with all 3 chords.

Students will learn 1-2 new chords per lesson for several weeks, at a speed that feels comfortable to them. We will use a variety of popular songs, often guided by the student's own interests, to practice new chords.

When students are ready to begin learning tabs, they will begin to take on slightly more complicated arrangements.

Learning Goals
