1-on-1 Reading and Writing Tutoring : Grades 9 -12

Each session in this course is designed to provide individualized, targeted support for students in English Language Arts, Reading, and Writing. Sessions are structured to address the student’s specific needs while fostering growth and confidence in their skills.

At the start of the session, we’ll briefly review the student’s goals and the materials they’ve brought, such as an essay, a rubric, or a text they’re reading. From there, we’ll dive into focused, hands-on work tailored to their challenges.

For example, if a student is working on an essay, we might begin by reviewing their outline, identifying areas to strengthen, or clarifying their thesis statement. We’ll discuss organization, grammar, and style to ensure their writing is polished and meets the assignment’s expectations.

If a student needs help with reading comprehension, we might analyze key passages from a story, discuss themes, or break down complex vocabulary. Together, we’ll work on strategies like annotating texts, identifying main ideas, or making inferences, so they can better understand and respond to their reading assignments.

Each session is interactive, encouraging students to ask questions, share ideas, and apply what they’ve learned. By the end of the session, they’ll walk away with clearer understanding, improved skills, and greater confidence in their work.
