Students will develop and improve their ukulele skills such as how to hold the instrument, playing position and rest position, how to strum, proper hand and finger position, play chords and chord progressions, count and play strumming patterns, and how to play songs using chords, and how to play melodies. They will also improve their rhythm, counting skills, music reading skills, and pattern recognition.
I am a certified music educator with a M.A in Music & Music Education. I fell in love with the ukulele over a decade ago, and have been playing and teaching it ever since. I have been teaching group ukulele classes for 10 years. I also have taught private music lessons for 15 years. I love this instrument and specialize in teaching beginning instrumental music lessons to young beginners. The ukulele is a happy instrument, so my goal is to make learning the ukulele fun and frustration-free.
Practicing the chords, exercises, and songs learned in each lesson is highly recommended.
A soprano, tenor, or concert ukulele (4 strings) is required for this class and must be tuned before we begin (to pitches G/C/E/A- parents please assist with this as needed). Songs and exercises will be provided during each lesson and shared with you for practicing.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
25 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
