In this class, students will go over any work or concepts with a skilled tutor who will assess their current knowledge, identify areas for improvement, and provide instruction in order to help students improve their understanding of the Latin language. This a great fit for Latin I, Latin II, Latin III, or Latin IV+. Concepts students will learn include: Grammatical case and endings + word order Grammatical gender and endings Verb tenses Latin translation skills + translation order Latin vocabulary English derivatives from Latin words Latin grammar and terms and much more! Personalized Instruction: Is in-class instruction or group instruction not working as well for your student? With one-on-one lessons, students get the full attention of the teacher, the ability to ask all the questions they may have privately, and get to move through content at their pace. Lessons can be structured to help students with whatever material they need to focus on, moving as fast or as slow as need be. Comprehensive Subject Knowledge: Get help from tutors who have a deep understanding of the Latin language. Our tutors can not only teach students the basics about translating and vocabulary but can help students immerse themselves in the Latin language and culture. Hands-on assistance: Part of learning is learning to work through the problems yourself and learning to fit together to puzzle pieces to integrate different concepts. In sessions, students will work with the teacher to identify vocabulary and grammatical concepts and will continue to work on translating more and more on their own with the guidance of the teacher. Is tutoring only for struggling students? Not at all! Students of all ages and ability levels engage with tutors all the time. Whether you need help brushing up on a few concepts, need to catch up in school, or are working ahead on advanced content and perfecting scores, a tutor can be a great resource in your life.

Other Details
Parental Guidance
Depending on your student's level of Latin, they may be exposed to stories and concepts that may involve discussions of violence as many Latin texts deal with the themes of war and conquest, subterfuge and poisonings, betrayal, slavery, torture, and so on. You should be advised that these concepts may be discussed within sessions in regards to translations or any discussions about Ancient Rome and its culture. Upper level Latin (Latin 3 and 4+) may also involve some discussion of the sex lives of the Romans as this sometimes makes its way into texts as well. This may involve discussions of infidelity, sex, or sometimes curse words when it comes to upper Latin texts (Latin 3+ - see Catullus, Martial, Ovid, Cicero, Julius Caesar et al.).
Supply List
Students will need their computer and something to take notes with. This may include a notebook and pen/pencil or other note-taking software.
