Beginner - Advanced Level
Have you got an audition coming up (amateur or professional) you would like some help to prepare for? Do you have hidden talents as an actor, or presenter that you would like some help to explore further? Do you have an important speech or presentation to prepare for? Would you like a focused session to help you build your confidence? Have you got an exciting talent spot to get ready for (live or virtual)? In this class, your learner will get personalized, one-on-one support from a voice of experience (actress, director, presenter, teacher, speech and drama tutor, Podcaster, coach- quiet child!) with plenty of tips and techniques that can be taken away for independent rehearsals/run-throughs after the class. I also have a selection of audition or public speaking monologues/speeches I can bring to our class if you don't have anything to work on. Acting Tutor- From my experience working as a professional actress on one side, and a director on the other, I can help learners with an upcoming audition, presentation, speech, or talent show performance or I can take them through a specially created course that develops their acting skills, knowledge and confidence. We will start with an especially tailored warm-up before learners can show me what they have so far, (or talk me through their ideas, if they want support to create something in the class). I will then work to, step by step, develop their performance/presentation, using varied theatre practitioners' work (such as Stanislavski, Lecoq, Boal) and help them find their very best performance. I have particular experience with musicals, comedy, Shakespeare, children's stories, Theatre in Education, physical theatre, mime, and simple hand puppets, but I also really enjoy being creative and working on new things. If you would like, I can also adapt my mime, hand puppet, presenting, or creating characters classes to help learners create a piece using or developing these skills. Presenting/Confidence Building Coach- From my experience growing up as a quiet child who found her confidence through acting, and later used this for roles as a live, TV, Video, and radio presenter, I can support learners to build their confidence to help them feel better about speaking and presenting themselves. For speaking up in classes, as skills for life or we can prepare for a public speaking competition, a YouTube video, Podcast, Vlog, or pretend TV/Radio show. I can introduce supportive breathing techniques, ways to calm an anxious mind, vocal warm-ups, ways to cover up a slip or memory blip, and how to try and stop yourself tripping over difficult words. 'Wonderful teacher really knowledgeable :) My daughter has had a few private lessons for her up-and-coming speech and drama festival and all have been a huge help.' 'Mrs. T worked magic with our budding thespian, to prepare for a specific audition. We saw a growth in confidence, an increased dedication and commitment to preparing and rehearsing in the following days, and a greater appreciation for the monologue aspect of the audition (previously she had taken more voice/singing classes). Our daughter used her newly learned relaxation techniques while waiting to be called, and came out of her audition feeling confident! Well worth the money, for both specific skills gained, as well as the intangible personal growth. Thank you, Mrs. T!' 'My daughter took your class back in February. You helped her with a monologue for an audition for a performing arts school. She was accepted to the school based on her audition. I just wanted to let you know and thank you for your help! :)'
Learning Goals
Learners will instantly develop their performance/presentation/vocal piece (or learn ways to build their confidence or develop their Presenting) and gain useful tips and techniques they can use on their own, after the class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Non-US Teaching Certificate in Music/Theater/Arts
Bachelor's Degree in Music or Theatre or Arts from University of Southampton
I have a lot of experience with the demands of auditions from working as a professional actress on one side, and then later producing and directing productions (musicals and plays), including some I wrote myself, on the other. I am very experienced in coaching learners to produce their best performance/ presentation, and I love seeing them develop in front of my eyes.
I am also a fully qualified, experienced teacher (BAPA, PGCE), who has also worked as many types of presenter and used many of these techniques to build my own confidence and develop my use of voice and non-verbal presentation.
In terms of supporting learners with confidence building, I myself was a quiet child with a reluctance to speak and it was acting and its techniques that truly helped me.
