M&M's provide a vibrant and real-life way for children to see fractions, making concepts like parts of a whole and equivalent fractions easy to understand. Students will engage in hands-on learning experiences from dividing M&M's into equal parts to comparing fractions based on candy colors. These activities will help solidify their understanding of fractions.

Students will learn how fractions are parts of a whole. Students will learn how to write simple fractions.

M&M's will be used for this class. Be mindful of any peanut allergies. It is recommended that M&M's without peanuts be used.

Hi!! I'm an Early Childhood Educator with over twenty years of experience. My classes provide opportunities for hands on exploration, because I truly believe that children learn through play. I learn through conversation and real-life application, and that's how I teach. My goal is to create environments where children feel free to be creative.
I have a Bachelors in Early Childhood Education, and have worked with children 0-3 years old in Early Head Start, as well as 3-5 year olds in Head Start. I was the Youth director at church, and I worked at the Boys and Girls Club through the Americorps program.
My philosophy is that children are curious, and they should be provided opportunities to explore.
