AM I READY FOR THIS? Take a quick skill inventory assessment. Here is how you know you are ready for this course. If you are not, take a look at Level 1 or reach out to the teacher for guidance. - Patterns will be a minimum 8 measures in length growing to 32 measures of continuous playing by the end of the 8 weeks. - Performer can read quarter, eighth, sixteenth notes independently, may have some questions about counting - Simple time signatures (2/4, 3/4, 4/4) and complex time signatures (6/8, 9/8, 12/8) sound familiar, but you may have some questions - Familiarity with right and left and can respond to coordination SKILL DEVELOPMENT - physical stamina of technical playing using the arm - mental focus of counting and reading - independent reading of standard music notation - basic response to feedback for safe and accurate performing COURSE EXPERIENCE - reading standard rhythmic notation of quarter, eighth, sixteenth notes and rests - performing with accuracy rhythm, stick choreography, accents, dynamics

For over a decade, I have provided music instruction for PreK through high school across all types of instruments and ensembles. My students have gone on to successful careers with many of them performing in music. My skills of learning one instrument and being able to effectively transfer that understanding to many other instruments have served me well as a school music educator and earning a Master's of Music from the University of Tennessee for general, vocal, and instrumental education.
